About hemming
We offer a free hemming service for jeans and bottoms purchased at our store.
Jeans are repaired using a chain stitch on a Union Special sewing machine specially designed for hemming jeans.
Please feel free to contact us as we will respond in the following ways.
*Finishing method will conform to genuine product specifications.
*There are some cases where hemming services are not free, such as sale items.
If you would like your pants hemmed at the time of purchase
The hem will be shortened according to the LENGTH you selected on the product page. You can choose to either "Choose by height" or "Specify exact length." Also, as the length is specified by inseam, please check " How to measure inseam " for the exact measurement.
How to determine LENGTH (inseam length)
Enter your height and MOMOTARO JEANS will suggest the length that suits you best based on your height.
What is the recommended length for MOMOTARO JEANS?
At MOMOTARO JEANS, we recommend a length that allows for a little extra room at the hem - "one cushion" (see example image).
In addition, the recommended length is calculated assuming that jeans are worn above the hip bones, so please note that the position of the hem may change depending on where you wear them.
When to roll up
If you would like your jeans rolled up, please add 3 to 4 cm to the recommended length for MOMOTARO JEANS by selecting the "Specify More Detail" option.
*Please note that the recommended size may vary slightly depending on the position of the pants worn.
*Please note that we cannot accept returns or exchanges after hemming.
If you are unsure about the size, we recommend having the pants hemmed after purchase.
*You cannot specify a dimension longer than the inseam dimension of the product.
When purchasing, please check the length and make sure it is specified as a length shorter than the product dimensions.
If you would like to have your pants hemmed after purchase
If you would like to have your pants hemmed after purchase, you can request this at a later date.
STEP.1
Please wash the pants you are currently wearing. Please make sure they are completely dry before ordering. If they are brand new, there is no need to wash them.
STEP.2
After checking the jeans you received, please specify the hemming position using method ① or ②.
①Specifying inseam measurement Please refer to the instructions on how to measure inseam. When returning the product, please enclose a note stating the length you wish to specify.
② Fold the right leg of your jeans back so that the specified hemming position with a safety pin or clip is clear, and secure it with a safety pin or clip.
*If you would like different lengths for the left and right sides, please clearly fix them in place and enclose a note so that we can indicate the finished positions on both sides.
STEP.3
Please send it to our online shop (address below). Please send it with postage prepaid. (※Customers are responsible for the postage when returning the item.)
*If you send it by cash on delivery, we will charge you the fee.

Once the jeans arrive at our store, we will hem them at the specified location and complete the hemming process within 5 to 7 business days. We will then send them back to you with shipping costs covered by our store.
How to measure inseam
If you would like to specify the inseam measurement when ordering, please refer to the measurement method below to specify the length. If you would like to match it with a pair of bottoms you already own, please prepare a pair of bottoms that are as close as possible to the item you are purchasing and measure it. If you would like to match the length based on your past purchase history, please check your past purchase history, or if you are a member, please check the inseam measurement in the "Order History" section of your My Page.
*Only online shop history will be saved.

Measure from the base of the crotch seam (not from the stitching).
About the finish
The finished product will be altered to match the stitching of the original product.
*We do not hem skirts or provide special processing.
Jeans: Finished with chain stitching.
Jeans may shrink vertically over time. Therefore, we will take into consideration the shrinkage at the desired location during the finishing process. Therefore, there is no need for you to take shrinkage into consideration.
Chino bottoms: Single stitched finish.
Finishing your distressed jeans
When shortening the hem of processed jeans, the distressed parts will be cut off. If you are shortening the hem by about 1-2cm, we recommend not cutting them and enjoying the texture of the processed look.
Finishing tips for chinos and bottoms
Due to the design of the hem, the threads will need to be untied before the alteration can take place. If you would like the hem shortened by 2-4cm, the needle marks left by the untied threads may be visible.
*When finishing, use an iron or other tool to make the marks less noticeable.
Notes
- We cannot accept returns or exchanges on hemmed items. Please make sure to check the size and length carefully before ordering.
- The hem length is not necessarily the perfect length. Please understand that there may be some slight differences.
- When specifying hem shortening measurements, please refrain from specifying hem shortening in increments of less than 1 cm.
- If you would like your pants hemmed at the time of your order, it will take an additional 1 business day from the usual estimated delivery time. If your order falls on a weekend or public holiday, we will process it on the next business day. If you would like your pants hemmed at a later date, we will ship your order within 2-3 days of receiving the item.
- We use a sewing machine in our store to hem the pants, so the shipping date may differ depending on the situation. Thank you for your understanding.
Regarding hemming jeans purchased at another store
We can also hem jeans purchased at Japan Blue directly managed stores on this website. We can also hem jeans brought to directly managed stores, so please show us the email screen of your purchase details. For jeans purchased at other stores, please first consult with the store where you purchased them. We cannot hem jeans from other manufacturers.
Regarding hemming of sale items and lucky bag items
Sale items can be hemmed for a fee. The fee is 1,000 yen (excluding tax) per pair. After finishing, the item will be shipped on a cash-on-delivery basis, so the hemming fee, shipping fee, and cash-on-delivery fee will be borne by the customer.
For first-time customers
We strongly recommend that customers who are purchasing our jeans for the first time purchase them without having the hems altered in order to check the fit. Jeans that have been hemmed cannot be returned or exchanged under any circumstances. We appreciate your understanding and consideration. The waist size of jeans varies depending on the rise. Please compare with jeans you already own and make sure to consider carefully before purchasing.
