The new MOMOTARO JEANS KYOTO space is a space that embodies the brand's sincere approach to manufacturing, which dates back to the origins of denim, and has been conceived by going beyond decorative touches such as "denim-ness" and "Kyoto-ness" and by facing the essence of Kyoto machiya townhouses.
The townhouse on Shinmonzen-dori Street bears many layers of traces of past life and care. It is not the glamorous world that one might imagine when hearing the word Kyoto. Rather, it is an unadorned and honest space that is common to the denim factories in Kojima, where looms are lined up. In order to preserve the beauty of this townhouse, new materials are carefully layered while making use of the old materials. Threads of light (acrylic lighting) are woven three-dimensionally into the dark framework, which has an open ceiling and has gained the original freedom, and a large drawer is placed underneath to store the denim, the core of this brand.
This spring, indigo denim, which has been brought from America to Okayama in pursuit of its true essence, will be delivered from Okayama to Kyoto. The recipient will be an empty house that retains only the essence of a Kyoto machiya townhouse. When MOMOTARO JEANS and Kyoto meet, a new combination of value may be born.

An architectural design unit consisting of Jun Aoki and Masatoshi Shinagawa. Notable works include the Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art (also known as the Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art), Senkoji Temple Summit Observatory PEAK, and a series of Louis Vuitton stores.
